Description

1866 Nickel Three Cent, Frosty MS67+
Advanced Die State

1866 3CN MS67+ NGC. CAC. The 1866 nickel three cent is rare in MS66 and exceedingly so finer. This Plus-designated Superb Gem is exceptionally vibrant and frosty, devoid of mentionable toning. Struck from severely deteriorated dies, the peripheries show extensive flowlines and both sides are heavily clashed. However, the sharpness of the obverse portrait is unaffected and the luster is incredible. Close study with a loupe fails to reveal even minor abrasions. Census: 2 in 67 (1 in 67+), 1 finer. CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (11/18).
