Heavy Die Clashing
1866 3CN MS67 NGC. Shelf doubling, also known as machine or
strike doubling, is evident around some of the obverse letters and
should not be confused with the doubled die obverse variety of this
issue. This Superb Gem is sharply struck with frosty nickel-gray
luster and brilliant, untoned surfaces. Both dies show heavy clash
