Description

1868 Three Cent Nickel, Elusive MS66+

1868 3CN MS66+ PCGS. CAC. The prevailing coin-gray surfaces show a hint of rose patina throughout. The post-Mint preservation is virtually impeccable, although each side shows bold clash marks for the other side's die. Rich luster and a nice sharp strike are pluses. For an issue of more than 3.2 million coins, examples in MS66 or finer are surprisingly elusive. Population: 36 in 66 (2 in 66+), 1 finer (5/15).(Registry values: N1793)
