1873 Open 3 Three Cent Nickel, MS65
Challenging in High Grade
1873 3CN Open 3 MS65 NGC. The Open 3 logotype was employed
for about two thirds of the three cent nickels coined in 1873
(783,000 pieces), but in high grades the two varieties are
surprisingly similar in scarcity. This Gem Open 3 representative
displays soft golden-gray toning, with boldly render design
elements and minimally disturbed, satiny luster. Census: 12 in 65
(1 in 65+), 3 finer (4/15).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22NR, PCGS# 3740, GSID# 2776)
