1873 Open 3 Nickel Three Cent, MS65+
Only Two Coins Finer at PCGS

1873 3CN Open 3 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. The 1873 Open 3 three cent nickel had more than twice the mintage of its Closed 3 counterpart (783,000 to 390,000 pieces), but is nonetheless equally as rare (if not more so) in Gem grades. This example displays frosty silver-gray luster, with faint hints of ice-blue and pale gold seen when turned in-hand. The wreath is somewhat softly struck, though the preservation is seemingly perfect. Population: 34 in 65 (2 in 65+), 2 finer (8/15).(Registry values: N1793)
