Superb Gem 1880 Three Cent Nickel
Mintage of Only 21,000 Pieces

1880 3CN MS67 PCGS. CAC. The three cent nickel was conceived to alleviate a Civil War coin shortage, and initial dates had high mintages. By 1880, silver dollar production was paramount, and since the three cent denomination was no longer important, only 21,000 pieces were struck. This is a well struck and mark-free Superb Gem with blended autumn-gold and dove-gray toning. Certified in a green label holder. Population: 32 in 67, 0 finer (9/11).
