Description
Exquisite MS67 1881 Three Cent Nickel
1881 3CN MS67 PCGS. For no obvious reason, more than 1 million three cent nickels were struck in 1881, a mintage greater than all other dates combined between 1876 and the 1889 end of the series. Nonetheless, Superb Gems are extremely rare, since there was no contemporary numismatic interest. This is a sharply struck and lustrous representative, attractively toned green-gold and stone-gray. Housed in an old green label holder. Population: 7 in 67, 0 finer (12/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22NT, PCGS# 3749, GSID# 2782)
