Description

1882 Three Cent Nickel, MS66
Seldom Seen as a Circulation Strike

1882 3CN MS66 NGC. After a mintage of more than a million pieces the previous year, production for 1882 business strike three cent nickels dropped in 1882 to a mere 22,200 pieces. Proofs are much easier to locate, especially in higher grades. This is an especially lustrous example with no suggestions of the usual prooflikeness in the fields. The mint luster shows just the slightest hint of pale golden and lilac toning. Fully struck. Census: 11 in 66, 2 finer (2/18).(Registry values: N1793)
