Description

1882 Three Cent Nickel, MS66
Rarely Seen Circulation Strike

1882 3CN MS66 PCGS. CAC. The three cent nickel series seems fated to be underappreciated and undervalued. The decade of the 1880s is a highly collectible one, and pieces from those years are seldom available as business strikes. The mintage for the 1882 was 22,200 pieces, which is several times the output for other years from the 1880s. However, few were saved. As a result, PCGS has only certified 14 other pieces in MS66 with a mere three finer (2/10). This is a no-questions circulation strike with no reflectivity in the fields. The surfaces are bright and highly lustrous with just a hint of pale reddish patina, and the strike is full.(Registry values: N1793)
