Description

1882 Three Cent Nickel, MS66
Low-Mintage, Low-Availability

1882 3CN MS66 PCGS. CAC. If a collector is looking for an undervalued and overlooked series, we have two to recommend: business strike three cent nickels and business strike Shield nickels. Auction after auction we have 2-3 business strikes of each of these, and maybe a dozen or more of the proofs. Business strikes were very low in the latter years of this series with only 22,200 pieces struck in 1882. This is a fully struck example with vaguely semireflective fields. The brilliance is only interrupted by very light russet streakiness. Population: 17 in 66, 3 finer (9/12).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 275D, PCGS# 3750, Greysheet# 2783)
