Description

1884 Three Cent Nickel, MS62
Rare in Mint State

1884 3CN MS62 PCGS. With a scant mintage of just 1,700 coins, the business strike variant of the 1884 three cent nickel is significantly rarer than its proof counterpart, but as many collectors opt for the more obtainable proof variety, the issue is somewhat underappreciated in all Mint State grades. This piece displays moderately well-struck devices and semiprooflike fields, a characteristic of this issue. A faint golden tint warms the otherwise silver-gray surfaces, with no major abrasions present. Population: 3 in 62, 12 finer (4/14).(Registry values: N991)
