    Description

    1868 Three Cent Nickel, PR67+
    CAC-Approved Cameo Specimen

1868 3CN PR67+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. No official production totals were recorded for minor proof issues before 1878, but the 2020 Guide Book estimates the mintage of proof three cent nickels in 1868 at a meager 600 pieces. This Plus-graded Superb Gem proof exhibits sharply detailed design elements, with a rich coat of mint frost that contrasts boldly with the deeply reflective fields to create an intense cameo effect when the coin is tilted in the light. The virtually flawless surfaces show highlights of lime-green and lavender toning, with outstanding eye appeal. This coin is tied with one other example for finest-certified honors at PCGS (3/20).(Registry values: N2998)
