    Description

Superb 1881 Three Cents in Aluminum, Judd-1670

1881 Three Cents, Judd-1670, Pollock-1871, R.7, PR 66 NGC. A three cent nickel pattern featuring the head on the obverse similar to that used on the adopted five cent piece of 1883. The reverse has a Roman numeral III in the center, surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge and dies rotated 180 degrees. This vibrant, carbon-free specimen appears essentially as it did in the last century, having acquired only a hint of light patina in the fields.
