Description

Lustrous, Lightly Toned 1851-O Three Cent Silver, MS65

1851-O 3CS MS65 NGC. This was the first and only three cent piece made in New Orleans, and the only branch Mint silver three cent piece produced during the entire history of the denomination from 1851 to 1873. Light gold toning is evident over frosty luster with hints of lilac toning. This is an elusive issue in Mint State grades, and especially difficult to locate in Gem quality. Census: 52 in 65, 16 finer (7/08).(Registry values: N1793)
