Description

1851-O Silver Three Cent, MS65
Sole Branch Mint Issue, CAC

1851-O 3CS MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1851-O silver three cent is a desirable collectible, as 1851 was the first year of issue and New Orleans was the only branch mint used for the denomination. It is the smallest coin ever produced by the U.S. Mint, both in size and weight, and ideal for buying a newly-issued three-cent postage stamp. This well-preserved Gem displays frosty luster on coruscating champagne-silver surfaces. The strike is soft, due in part to inherently thin planchets, but this does not detract from the overall delightful eye appeal.(Registry values: N1793)
