Description

1851-O Three Cent Silver, MS65
The Only Branch Mint Issue

1851-O 3CS MS65 PCGS. At the beginning of production for the three cent silver denomination, the New Orleans Mint joined the Philadelphia Mint in an experiment that was not repeated. The 1851-O was the only branch mint issue of the denomination, and examples are popular with Louisiana coinage enthusiasts. This Gem has pleasing luster with watery reflectivity in the fields. The obverse is pale green-gold, the reverse deeper olive, with both sides showing splashes of rich peripheral color. PCGS Population: 62 in 65 (1 in 65+), 38 finer (4/26).
