Description
Creamy-White Gem 1856 Trime
1856 3CS MS65 PCGS. CAC. Three different designs were produced during the 23-year span of production for this denomination. The Type Two three-cent silver pieces, or trimes as they are sometimes called, are clearly scarcer than either of the other types in Gem quality. This is a lovely Gem with creamy white luster and sharp design elements. The obverse has some interesting die lines within the star, and roller marks appear on each side, from the planchet which was incompletely struck up.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 5674, which realized $3,450.(Registry values: N2998)
