    Description

Extraordinary MS67 1861 Three Cent Silver

1861 3CS MS67 NGC. The planchet was striated on each side of this piece, and as a result there is a significant amount of underlying brightness in the fields. Toned in rich shades of rose and sea-green, both obverse and reverse are essentially defect-free (as one would expect from a coin in this superlative grade). A bit softly struck on the ribbon on the reverse and the peripheral stars on that side, the obverse is fully defined. An interesting feature on this piece is that the reverse is rotated 180 degrees from normal coin alignment. Census: 24 in 67, 6 finer (10/07).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22ZA, PCGS# 3679)

    Weight: 0.75 grams
