Description1863 3CS MS65 PCGS. With an original output of only 21,000 pieces, this stunning Gem owes its existence to the widespread hoarding of silver coinage of the later war years. The richly frosted devices and thinly veiled fields combine to mimic a pronounced prooflike finish. All of the features are sharply impressed save for the top point of the star and the reverse ribbon. The surfaces are free of bagmarks, although we note some pronounced die clashing that has little effect on this piece's overall eye appeal. Population: 13 in 65, 18 finer (3/04).
