Description

1864 Three Cent Silver, MS65
Scarce, Low-Mintage Date

1864 3CS MS65 PCGS. CAC. Since silver was hoarded during the Civil War, mintages dwindled to just 12,000 pieces by 1864. This prooflike Gem is close to brilliant but has a hint of straw-gold toning. The obverse field is clashed but both sides display only trivial contact. Uncommonly well struck with full definition on the shield. In a green label holder. Population: 11 in 65 (1 in 65+), 29 finer (6/13).
