Brilliant Prooflike 1865 Three Cent Silver, MS67 ★ NGC
1865 3CS MS67 ★ NGC. A brilliant and decidedly prooflike Superb Gem that exhibits moderate contrast between the snow-white devices and the mirrored fields. However, the prooflike and cameo qualities of this piece are not designated on the NGC insert. Although this magnificently preserved piece has the look of a proof, this is not unusual for commercial strikes of the issue due to its limited production. A mere 8,000 business strikes were issued, along with 500 proofs. Scarce in all grades, and extremely rare at the MS67 level. This Civil War Three Cent Silver displays bold clash marks on both sides, as made.
