Description

1867 Three Cent Silver, MS65
Toned CAC Example

1867 3CS MS65 PCGS. CAC. The three cent silver piece served no significant commercial purpose by 1867; only 4,000 were struck that year, all at the Philadelphia Mint. Gem-quality survivors are rare but particularly so with CAC endorsement, anything finer will be out of reach or consideration for many collectors. The present example displays vivid multicolor toning in shades of violet, blue, amber-gold, and olive-green, with few discernible abrasions seen beneath a loupe. Other than some weakness on the central olive branch, strike sharpness is outstanding for the issue. Population: 6 in 65, 7 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 8 finer (9/22).
