    Description

    1872 Three Cent Silver, MS67+
    Last Circulation Issue

1872 3CS MS67+ PCGS. Ex: Simpson. Just 1,000 circulation-strike three cent silver pieces were produced in 1872, with a proof mintage approaching that number at 950 coins. While the proofs are frequently encountered, few of the circulation strikes survive, and they are rarely equal to this piece that is tied with just two others for the finest certified. NGC has never examined an MS67 or better example. This piece is amazing, featuring a bold strike with frosty devices and satiny fields, exhibiting noticeable contrast. Both sides are brilliant with delicate gold toning. This beauty will be a centerpiece in a high-grade collection. Population: 3 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer (4/20).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22ZN, PCGS# 3693)

    Weight: 0.75 grams
