1858 3CS PR65+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. Delicate violet and golden-orange patina colors this eye-appealing PR65+ Cameo three cent silver piece, deepening toward the rims on the obverse. The underlying surfaces are flashy and reflective, contrasting against the frosted devices. The 1858 represents the first year of public proof offerings from the U.S. Mint. Coins were sold mainly as complete denominational proof sets. An estimated 210 three cent pieces were struck for these sets in 1858, making this issue one of the most challenging in the series in high grade. Population: 2 in 65 (1 in 65+) Cameo, 1 finer.
