Description

1866 Three Cent Silver, Crisp MS66
Dusky Lavender-Gray Patina

1866 3CS MS66 PCGS. CAC. The low-mintage issues toward the end of the three cent silver series were produced, not for widespread circulation, but rather so that the Mint would have quantities of small-denomination coinage on hand to pay off odd amounts to depositors. A thin veil of dusky lavender-gray patina covers most of this Premium Gem, along with accents of cobalt-blue at the upper reverse. Fully struck on the shield, leaves, and fletchings. Population: 13 in 66 (1 in 66+), 14 finer. CAC: 6 in 66, 10 finer (2/19).(Registry values: N2998)
