Description
Choice VF 1854-D Three Dollar
Gold CAC Seal
1854-D $3 VF35 PCGS. Gold CAC. The 1854-D is the sole
Dahlonega issue of the denomination and as such is key to a type
set from the legendary Southern facility. A mere 1,120 pieces were
struck, and PCGS has certified a total of 121 pieces in all grades,
with an unknown number since removed from their holders and
resubmitted. Just 12 pieces are recognized by CAC.This is a primarily olive-gold example with orange toning where traces of luster persist. The portrait and wreath are surprisingly sharp, particularly on the cotton leaves. No marks are remotely relevant, though delicate hairlines from circulation and handling are present. Housed in an old green label holder.(Registry values: N4719)
