Description
Popular AU53 1854-O Three Dollar
1854-O $3 AU53 PCGS. The 1854-O was the lone three dollar gold piece struck at the New Orleans Mint, which has garnered it significant popularity. With a mintage of 24,000 pieces, this issue is available for a price in low grades, with VF or so coins often encountered. It becomes scarce in AU and is a rarity in Mint State. The AU53 example we offer here has pleasing green-gold patina and is generally well-defined, if soft at the obverse peripheral lettering. A few minuscule marks are scattered about, but none are particularly bothersome.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25M5, PCGS# 7971, GSID# 8662)
