Description
Splendid 1854-O Three Dollar, XF40
1854-O $3 XF40 PCGS. Although lightly worn, this splendid New Orleans three has original deep yellow surfaces with splashes of blue and orange patina on each side. Light surface marks are consistent with the grade. The reverse has a prominent die crack through the mintmark and right ribbon end. The 24,000-coin mintage is one of the higher production totals for the denomination. However, this is the only New Orleans gold issue of the denomination, and it is highly desirable as such.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25M5, PCGS# 7971, GSID# 8662)
