Well Defined 1854-O Three Dollar, XF45
1854-O $3 XF45 ANACS. The 1854-O three dollar is mostly encountered in Extremely Fine and About Uncirculated condition. Mint State coins are rare. David Bowers (2005) writes that '54-O three dollar pieces were placed into circulation soon after they were struck, as: "Distribution from the New Orleans Mint was widespread, including through ships in the coastwise and international trade calling at New Orleans." The yellow-gold surfaces of this Choice XF example exhibit well defined design motifs.
