Description

1855 Three Dollar Gold, MS64
Only a Few Finer Pieces Are Known

1855 $3 MS64 PCGS. The fields have subtle reflectivity, although they are not truly mirrored. Nonetheless, this lemon-gold near-Gem displays well-struck design elements and is devoid of significant abrasions. Eye appeal is outstanding. The 1855 three dollar gold piece comes from a fairly substantial mintage of 50,555 coins, the third-highest in the series. Yet, it is a rarity in MS64 and finer grades. Population: 33 in 64 (4 in 64+), 5 finer (3/19).
