Description

Shining MS61 1856 Three Dollar

1856 $3 MS61 PCGS. CAC. In 1856, just 26,010 three dollar gold pieces were struck at Philadelphia, a smaller total than that year saw at San Francisco. More P-mint pieces were saved, however, and it is the mother Mint's coins that are more available in Mint State today. This MS61 example has wispy abrasions and several luster scrapes, but the yellow-gold fields offer lovely texture and shine otherwise. Softly struck on the bow of the wreath.(Registry values: N2998)
