Description

1856 Three Dollar Gold, MS64
Extremely Rare Any Finer

1856 $3 MS64 PCGS. Even though the Philadelphia Mint coined 26,010 three dollar gold pieces this year, the 1856 is markedly scarcer than the 1854 and 1855 in all Mint State grades. This piece has an above-average strike, although we note slight weakness on the ribbon knot. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces are radiantly lustrous, with no mentionable distractions. Population: 38 in 64 (2 in 64+), 4 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25M8, PCGS# 7974, Greysheet# 8629)
