In-Demand 1856-S Three Dollar, AU50
1856-S $3 AU50 NGC. One of the few available S-mint three dollar gold issues, and in demand as such, the 1856-S saw a healthy emission of 34,500 coins. This example shows a single straight scrape in the left obverse field before Liberty's face, but elsewhere the surfaces are largely unperturbed, with pretty yellow-gold color and about half of the luster remaining.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25M9, PCGS# 7975, Greysheet# 8664)
