Description

1861 Three Dollar, AU58
Semireflective With Slight Mint Luster

1861 $3 AU58 NGC. This near-Mint example of this popular Civil War-date three dollar retains much of the appearance of an Uncirculated coin. The fields show light die striations, which in turn produce a semireflective appearance that is predictably combined with mint frost around the devices. Slight friction is seen over the high points of the devices and in the fields. Small abrasions are scattered over each side. Census: 64 in 58, 58 finer (1/11).
