1861 $3 VF25 NGC. 1861 was the last year that the Philadelphia Mint paid out three dollar gold pieces at face value until 1879. For this reason, a signification number of the mintage of 5,959 business strikes saw circulation. This yellow-orange representative has no mentionable marks and just a few tiny areas of verdigris and toning spots. Only a couple hundred examples of this issue are believed to exist.
