1862 $3 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. The 1862 three dollar gold piece comes from a mintage of only 5,750 coins, although this pre-Civil War issue was not saved in the large quantities as those from the 1880s. The present example displays good detail and bright yellow-gold color. Prominent hairlines on each side confirm the cleaning noted by PCGS.
