Description

1863 Three Dollar, AU58
Reflective Fields

1863 $3 AU58 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint struck only 5,000 three dollar gold pieces in 1863. While low-mintage dates of the 1880s are plentiful due to being widely saved, the same is not true of the 1863, which is scarce in high grade. This near-Mint coin displays subtle cameo contrast with deeply reflective fields and sharp, frosty central devices. Some field chatter and a brush of wear determine the grade. PCGS Population: 32 in 58, 51 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N1793)
