    1865 Three Dollar, AU Details
    Only 1,140 Pieces Struck

1865 $3 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. The 1865 three dollar is a low-mintage issue with a mintage of only 1,140 strikes for circulation. This piece spent only a brief amount of time in circulation, and when it was pulled out someone "improved" it by cleaning it, leaving the surfaces brighter than expected. One mark of distinction is noted, an oval-shaped abrasion or perhaps a planchet void just out from the chin of Liberty.
