    1865 Three Dollar, AU Details
    Only 1,140 Pieces Issued

1865 $3 -- Damaged -- ANACS. AU50 Details. Since gold coins failed to circulate in the East, South, or Midwest in 1865, it comes as little surprise that the 1865 mintage was only 1,140 pieces, excluding the 25 proofs. This moderately circulated yellow-gold business representative has a roundish dig between STATES and OF. A bright curved mark is noted on the left obverse field, and the cheek displays lesser abrasions.(Registry values: N2998)
