Description

1868 Three Dollar, MS62
Limited Production of 4,850 Coins

1868 $3 MS62 NGC. Three dollar gold production was characteristically limited in 1868, totaling a meager 4,850 coins. Gold did not circulate in the wake of the Civil War, partly explaining the availability of Mint State examples today. Peach-gold surfaces maintain bright, frosty luster and strong detail everywhere except the ribbon bow. Scattered hairlines. Census: 24 in 62, 11 finer (3/19).
