    Description

1869 $3 AU53 PCGS. A Reconstruction Era rarity struck just four years after the end of the Civil War, the 1869 three dollar gold piece had a business strike mintage of 2,500 coins, and most survivors are circulated. Attractive honey-gold color with splashes of red and orange along with areas of brilliance provide this piece with nice eye appeal. Several minor abrasions are present, including a vertical mark on the cheek. Population: 18 in 53, 85 finer (3/13).
