1869 Three Dollar, Reflective MS61
1869 $3 MS61 NGC. Lovely yellow-gold surfaces retain considerable prooflike reflectivity in the obverse and reverse fields of this elusive 1869 three dollar gold piece. The low mintage of just 2,500 coins was sufficient to ensure that the date will always be difficult to locate in any grade, let alone Mint State. Census: 19 in 61 (1 in 61+), 6 finer (3/19).Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2009), lot 5312, where it brought $3,737.50.
