Original Surfaces
1870 $3 AU53 NGC. The San Francisco coin of this date is
famous, but the Philadelphia issue is itself a challenging
acquisition in high grade. This AU piece represents an accessible
grade and has lovely old-time olive-gold patina. Each side is
smooth and lightly worn, with hints of luster in the protected
