1870 Three Dollar, AU55
Challenging, Low-Mintage Issue
1870 $3 AU55 NGC. The majority of certified pieces from the
1870 three dollar production of just 3,500 pieces are in AU grades.
Uncirculated examples are conditionally scarce, as NGC reports only
32 coins in Mint State (3/26). This Choice AU piece displays
vibrant green-gold patina accented with lustrous hues of apricot in
the recesses. Light wear on the high points accounts for the grade,
and there are no significant circulation marks. A typical bulge is
