Description

1872 Three Dollar, AU58
Vibrant Reflective Surfaces, CAC

1872 $3 AU58 NGC. CAC. The 1872 three dollar gold piece was produced in the meager quantity of just 2,000 circulation strikes. This near-Mint example exhibits wheat-gold surfaces complemented with frosty and lilac-infused luster. Traces of high-point wear and light field chatter are consistent with the grade. The fields are semiprooflike and propel a delightful cartwheel effect, and a modest die bulge is seen at 7:00 (as struck). Finer pieces are challenging given that NGC shows only 41 Mint State examples (3/26).(Registry values: N1793)
