1872 $3 MS61 PCGS....
Description
1872 Three Dollar, MS61
Semiprooflike Fields
1872 $3 MS61 PCGS. Ex: South Texas. The low-mintage three
dollar issues from the 1880s were well saved, but those from the
1870s not so much. The 1872, with a mintage of only 2,000 coins, is
rare in any Mint State grade. This almost full-prooflike example
displays bright yellow-gold color with a bold strike, showing just
a touch of the usual softness on the wreath bowknot. Scattered
light abrasions are not bothersome. PCGS Population: 8 in 61, 36
finer (10/25).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25MV, PCGS# 7994, Greysheet# 8645)
Weight: 5.02 grams
