1873 Closed 3 Gold Three Dollar
    Semiprooflike AU Details

1873 $3 Closed 3 -- Reverse Scratched -- NGC Details. AU. The mintage for the Closed 3 1873 gold three dollar piece was unrecorded, but it was undoubtedly low, possibly no higher than 1,000 coins, per most estimates. NGC and PCGS list a combined total of 120 survivors, although this figure is likely inflated resubmissions. Most known examples are clustered around various AU grades. This piece reveals just a brush of friction, with semiprooflike fields and warm golden toning. A couple faint, hair-thin scratches in the central reverse preclude a numeric grade from NGC.(Registry values: N4719)
