Subtly Colored Uncirculated 1878 Three Dollar
1878 $3 MS61 NGC. The 1878 three dollar gold is the last of the three series entries generally considered "common," which includes the 1854 and 1874 issues. But all issues in the series are quite desirable, and it is a challenge to find problem-free Mint State coins such as the present specimen. The devices are well but not fully struck, and the mint luster is untampered with attractive rose and lilac shades.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25MZ, PCGS# 8000, GSID# 8649)
