Description

1878 Three Dollar, MS63
Lustrous and Semireflective Sides

1878 $3 MS63 PCGS. The 1878 three gold dollar piece was the most prolific of the denomination with a comparatively high mintage of 82,304 pieces. This coin displays gorgeous dichotomous sides with its obverse frosted tawny-gold luster and its reverse almost prooflike deeply orange-gold luster. The wreath bowknot shows the usual softness, but the strike is otherwise bold. This type coin is highly desirable and is housed in a Generation 3.1 green label holder.(Registry values: N2998)
