    1878 Three Dollar Gold, MS64
    Shimmering Type Coin

1878 $3 MS64 PCGS. This Choice 1878 three dollar gold piece displays shimmering rose-gold luster, in harmony with the reputation of this issue as one of the most consistently attractive dates in the series. The wreath bowknot shows strike weakness, an almost unavoidable characteristic of this type. Light field marks account for the grade but do not detract. The 1878 boasts the second-highest mintage of the series at 82,304 pieces and is one of the three favorite type coin issues in high grade. (NGC ID# 25MZ, PCGS# 8000)

    Weight: 5.02 grams
